About Raku Kai:

The system was formed in the 1950's by Mr. Henrique, with a link to Mr. Church who ran a training camp in Carolina. Mr. Henrique specialized in French Karate (Savate), Japanese weapons, Karate, Judo, and Hand-to-Hand Combat. Mr. Church specialized in Korean Martial Arts and Jujitsu. The system is a combination of Japanese and Korean. The system is close to 50% feet and 50% hands with real world applications in self defense.
Early instructors in the system were Mr. Joe Volb, Mr. Mike Reese, Mr. Ed Huran, Mr. Joe Long, and Mr. Jack Lasavage.

Raku Kai was taught at Henriques Academy on street road until 1974. After 1974 Jack Lasavage continued teaching in Levittown, PA.  In 2003, Jack relocated his training facility to it's current location in Yardley, PA.

Sensei Jack Lasavage:
Jack has been teaching over thirty-five years. He has trained in Tae Kwon do, spent 3 years with Tai Chi, 8 years with Weapons, 2 years with Judo, and has been teaching boxing for 15 years. In this time he has given self-defense seminars to large corporations, different community groups and individuals. He also has worked with police groups on specific hand-to-hand and PR24 (Nightstick) trainings and certifications.   In his spare time he sometimes likes to be run over by a truck or just likes laying around on a bed of nails while someone breaks patio blocks on his chest.
